Résumé | The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) digital library is a collection of open source documents compiled by Engineering World Health (EWH) and Robert Malkin's Developing World Healthcare Technology (DHT) Laboratory at Duke University. These documents contain information useful for training biomedical equipment technicians (BMETs), particularly in the developing countries where EWH and DHT are working. The goal of this digital library is to make these resources more available to technicians practicing in the clinical environment, as well as to instructors and students in the biomedical field. The Engineering World Health BMET Training Program began in 2009, and is currently active in four countries: Rwanda, Honduras, Ghana, and Cambodia. Many technicians have received our courses or are currently enrolled in them. Studies conducted by DHT have measured the impact in countries where EWH trains, with 30-75% less medical equipment out-of-services depending on local conditions in each country. |
